House with Shingles by Egon Schiele, 1915

I love it when you find a piece by an artist you know well, but the subject depicted is entirely different from anything you’ve seen from them before. I am so used to seeing Schiele’s expressionist figures with their spindly outlined bodies and yellowy-brown skin tones: the House with Shingles mirrors this style and becomes a kind of architectural/landscape version of one of these figures.
